Olive Oil Tourism
Calling all olive oil enthusiasts! Don’t miss our olive oil tourism experience in Niguelas. Our guided visit takes you through the white-washed village, telling the story of its Muslim and Christian past with an explanation of the ancestral irrigation method. We’ll pass through centuries-old olive groves (Nazaries) and visit the oldest and best-preserved olive oil mill (almazara) in southern Europe, getting to know the olive oil production process. Learn with us in an OOVE olive oil tasting workshop at our farm Alquimia Verde.

The Orange Blossom Trail
Are you a nature enthusiast who loves hiking? Join us on a guided tour through the wonders of the Valle de Lecrin. Explore centuries-old olive groves, remnants from the Nazari era, where towering trees up to 15 metres high create an ecosystem of oranges and lemon trees, almond trees and orchards/vegetable gardens beneath their branches. Taste fresh oranges in their season (February – May) or enjoy the scents and aroma of orange blossom in their flowering period (September – March).

Alpujarras Adventure
If you’re looking for a unique, off-the-beaten-path experience, come enjoy a gorgeous day with us in the white villages of the Alpujarras. First stop in the Valle de Lecrin, Niguelas; its history
and charm will surprise you. This stop includes an olive oil tasting workshop. Second stop is the Museum of the Alpujarras in Bubion, where you’ll learn what our homes and traditional way of
life was like in the villages of the Sierra Nevada. Taste a wide variety of chocolates in a family run factory, visit curative spring waters with natural iron deposits, see a traditional loom, and
many more surprises.

Centre of Olive Oil Interpretation at La Erilla Mill (Almazara)
Centre of Olive Oil Interpretation at La Erilla Mill (Almazara), a Nasrid building constructed between the 12th and 15th centuries. The mill is recognised as one of the oldest in Spain and showcases an exceptional/one of the best examples of a late 15th century press. Because it was in use up until 1942, the structure and machinery of the press has been preserved to this day.
Inside you will find two distinctive milling systems: The Blood Mill from the 15th century, and the
Hydraulic Mill from the late 18th century. This combination of characteristics makes the mill
unique in southern Europe.
The Village of Niguelas
Located within the Sierra Nevada National Park, the municipality of Niguelas is a hidden gem in the Valle de Lecrin, often referred to as “The Valley of Joy». Just 30 km from Granada capital, this stunning mediterranean landscape is covered by a sea of centuries-old olive groves and a picturesque white-washed Andalusian village.

At Alquimia Verde, we are a team dedicated to preserving some of the traditions of the Valle de Lecrin and the culture of Andalusia. Led by Jose Manuel Alguacil, his partner, and his mother, we strive to keep the spirit of the valley alive. We have the help of volunteers who come from different backgrounds and nationalities. They live with us at the farm, and we all learn and share together as a family.

Meet Jose Manuel Alguacil, a young farmer deeply connected to the land and carrying on the farming tradition of his family. After years of exploration and travel around the world, he returned to his roots, embracing a life filled with the land, his community and the fruits of his labor. Join him on a visit to his village and farm, where you can experience his warm company and passion.

At Alquimia Verde, we embrace the values of ecology, agroecology and environmental stewardship. We strive to achieve a harmonious balance between our olive groves and the native vegetation that surrounds us, as well as to care for the animals and insects that help us
